More often than not, when I’m on a free associative Internet research hot streak (the kind led to that article I wrote about Hideaki Anno & Evangelion for Polygon), I have to rely on the Internet Archive’s Wayback machine, just to find something pre 2019. And those servers are under threat now.

I came across, figured I’d answer since I’m here

Think of the AT server like a car. You can drive your own car or you can get in a bus with a lot of people. Right now you’re on a bus

There’s also aggregators which are different. They’re like a highway for all the cars.

Journalists, teachers … so many unfairly compensated for the profound value they provide. We need to materialize that value in our economy so those positions do not require extreme self sacrifice

I’m finding generally that all the institutions that are breaking right now are caused by or correlated to a reliance on unpaid labor.

Corporations rely on the free emotional labor of high EQ employees, for example. Those people get fed up with the exploitation, leave, and cultures start to rot

I agree, but I don’t think existing ones will. Or that they even can. But maybe the next generation with different structures and business models. Co-ops or user owned platforms seem like the only way it could realistically happen.
