Maybe other models are lagging behind because ChatGPT’s training runs are sus

More often than not, when I’m on a free associative Internet research hot streak (the kind led to that article I wrote about Hideaki Anno & Evangelion for Polygon), I have to rely on the Internet Archive’s Wayback machine, just to find something pre 2019. And those servers are under threat now.

Here are my personal rules for using social media:

- Have fun
- You don't have to reply to everything
- A person stating their opinion is not an invitation for argument
- Block whenever you want to
- Offering advice is not always helpful and can be either annoying or actively harmful

Something many other able-bodied people fail to realize is that ability is intrinsically temporary in many ways. Some people are born with disabilities, others develop them over time, and/or have events that lead to them.

Too many able-bodied people treat accommodations as if they’re optional.

Think of the AT server like a car. You can drive your own car or you can get in a bus with a lot of people. Right now you’re on a bus

There’s also aggregators which are different. They’re like a highway for all the cars.

Reagan’s position from day one was that corporate self-interest would ultimately produce the best solution for the US.

This was more or less the same time Exxon was beginning their climate change coverup.

As it turns out, relying on "corporate self-interest" just gets you a climate crisis.

In any community, mods should be elected/chosen, and paid, by that community. They are basically local government officials. Not that our real world government has the ideal model, but it’s better than what we have currently on any social media - Reddit, Wikipedia, BlueSky, Twitter, etc.
