Excellent analysis today from @atrupar.com in PN:

The GOP "has done untold damage to the nation over the past two and a half decades, particularly during its domination by Trump. America would probably be far better off sending it into the dustbin of history."

When your lead negotiator turns up like this (Left) for the meeting with Ukraine, and like this (R) to meet Putin, it may indicate something, don't you think?

If you missed the end of the Moscow talks last night, a quick resumé.
Putin kept Witkoff/Kushner waiting 3 hours.
Talks lasted nearly 5 hours, ending well after midnight.
Russia refused to negotiate on territory, maintaining maximalist demands.
Americans flew home within an hour

Hello again - it's Tuesday's daily thread for Day 1378 of the full Russian invasion.

It's the day Russia will again pretend it wants peace as a woefully underqualified and historically ignorant US "envoy" meets Putin again.

No. of times Witkoff has been to:
Moscow: 6
Kyiv: 0

Good morning on Day 1379 of the war in Europe.

The day after the 'crunch' Moscow talks and... nothing's changed. Ukraine wants peace. Russia refuses.

Strangely, still no post from Trump on Putin's latest humiliation of US 'power'

It's the daily thread - still never missed a day!

TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.

Just got the word that the Trump administration is throwing a brilliant medical researcher friend of mine out of the country because they’re Chinese. Insane and unreal. Literally doing research in the US to help the US

We are indeed in a new phase of the Black Sea naval war.

There has yet to be a direct Russian reply to the latest string of Ukrainian attacks and what I'm mostly thinking about are new offensive-, not defensive, actions.

Going down that route is mostly a political question.
Russian tanker Midvolga 2 was targeted by kamikaze drone this morning in the Black Sea.
