my modest disagreement is that i think it is important to signal virtue even if, privately, you are a piece of shit. performing decency is an important part of maintaining the norm that decency is part of a well ordered society.
you are SUPPOSED to signal virtue. The actual argument, such as it exists, is that people are signaling virtue while not actually being virtuous. But you are supposed to signal virtue and BE VIRTUOUS.

I am not really sure if it is dereliction of duty. I don’t think courts typically grant the state an injunction against a crime.
Injunctions are an extraordinary remedy and the consequences of violating the injunction are less severe than breaking the law.

I spent 4 years at WilmerHale after my clerkships. I chose Wilmer over several firms that would have paid more because of the firm’s civic commitment. I have been terrified that the firm would stay quiet or capitulate. I am glad that fear was misplaced.
