A moment, please, to consider the absolute majesty of Daphne Oram's unbelievable score to this. A pitch shifted, time stretched, frequency agile glimpse of the future of music production; a liberty-taking all analogue remix of Sandy Nelson's Teen Beat realised in real time with the visuals.

A thought-provoking couple of hours at a roundtable organised by @drhick.bsky.social & @catherinemax.bsky.social on objects (signs, barriers, fences, etc) in public space and their relationship to access, belonging and more, against the backdrop of the Farrell Centre’s Keep on the Grass exhibition.

Reader, they asked who Cliff Richard is.
Today the Student New Town Development Corporation are moving into the 1970s and 80s. Will they build a new Milton Keynes?
Content warning: may contain scenes of Cliff Richard rollerskating, which some viewers may find distressing.

I forgot to post this photo of a local pub whose wholehearted commitment to commemorating Remembrance Sunday extended to erecting a Cenotaph on the roof

// The chrononormativity of UKHE is manic. Overwork and urgency are the normative experience for academics, and conforming to these strictures of time is rewarded through the systems of recognition in universities which seek to extract ever more from ever fewer human resources. //

In a shock move, following the showing of this public information film, the Student New Town Development Corporation decided to ban all cars from their Town centre, build a ring road and introduce a park and ride scheme.

I really think that programmes of events like the @beinghumanfest.bsky.social last fortnight helped communicate what universities do to the general public.
I also have seen however that senior managements don't appreciate such initiatives and their value.
'Fewer than half are even fully aware that universities conduct research.'

Real indictment of universities' strategies and comms this. An own goal that could and should be rectified. Engaging broad publics with research is not rocket science. And if it were, universities have rocket scientists. 3/3

Who among the public is demanding this? Who does it appeal to? I even think the people who shout at hotels haven't asked for this. Immoral.
The Sun has been told Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will on Monday propose confiscating jewellery, watches, necklaces from asylum seekers to meet asylum costs

This reflects the most controversial aspect of the Danish scheme - the Jewellery Law. The toughest Labour MPs thought this was OTT

I have just said "how long before one of them goes off sick with RSI?" #GameofWool
I really wish someone would comment on how hard knitting and crocheting with such thick yarn and enormous needles/hooks is on hands, wrists and shoulders.

And also the implication that they are sat still knitting for 12 hours without a break.

Health-wise, it's appalling.

New! After eight years of waiting, they're online! See London's unbuilt motorways as even their planners never could in our amazing, immersive Ringways Map, hosted by the amazing SABRE Maps. It *might* be the best thing we've ever done. #ringways
The Ringways Map is here
The wait is over! The full map of the Ringways, London’s unbuilt urban motorway network, is now online. Not even the system's planners had anything like this.

This panel looks fab.
I wonder why there's no equivalent of NACBS in the UK, mega conference of the newest British history.
I guess that Brum and Warwick are trying to do so, but there's nothing that comprehensive.
Next up at #nacbs2025 is a fab lineup of rising history stars in field of histories of activism in late 20th century Britain incl: @racheljcollett.bsky.social @alfiesteer.bsky.social Dan Frost & Jess White.
