Prologue
I shared the other day that I've started my hashtag#memoir. I'm starting to post some of these writings, often not in the order they are written, which somehow seems appropriate for such things. Here is my prologue; now on Substack.

📉 Nearly 700,000 layoffs this year.
😶‍🌫️ Most companies still treat empathy like an accessory.

Real talk: kindness is not weakness. It’s strategy.

when a brand shows up for #pride one year & vanishes the next, queer folks feel it. not just emotionally—but somatically.

this new piece breaks down why inconsistency hurts more than rainbow capitalism ever did.

visibility isn’t optics. it’s care.

New post: “UX Is a Nervous System”
Your website might look great—but if it overwhelms the body, it fails.
Let’s talk trauma-informed UX and how to make design feel like consent, not coercion.

your store layout might be stressing people out.

aisles that trap.
lights that buzz.
music that overwhelms.
this is not “immersive.” it’s triggering.

wrote a piece on how store design hits the nervous system—and how to fix it:

I’m looking for examples where you felt uncomfortable in dealing with the marketing, branding, or customer service with a brand. This could include things like greenwashing, not standing up to hate (cough cough Target), or anything that made you say ‘that’s messed up.’ Reply here or send me a msg.

Have You Ever Been Triggered by a Brand’s Marketing? Ideally a Brand You Love. Pls DM me with examples!

Working on book project 2 and specifically looking for examples where a company’s marketing made you uncomfortable or triggered. It can be creative, overall campaign theme, something you received in the mail, or even an interaction with customer service that didn’t sit well. LMK via reply or dm.
