The thing I love about drone photography is finding patterns that look so much better from above!

Here is the Nebra sky disk, considered by some the oldest known illustration of the night sky.

The artifact was discovered near Nebra alongside several Bronze Age weapons and is linked to the Unetice culture, which thrived in parts of Europe...

The much needed and constant rain has allowed me to restart my barn owl project, all be it having to get up before sunrise.

The last time I was able to photograph an owl was back in April.

Venice Architecture Biennale.
Impossible to even start to describe or explain such a massive exhibition in a single post. So I’ll just share some images I shot on iPhone during the visit and maybe some video in my Instagram stories.

Definite signs of #autumn now on the leaves along the canal. Not taking the camera out yet - perhaps one of these days I'll feel inspired again... Here's one from Richmond Park a couple of years ago.

General submission open on Monday 22 September. We are looking for speculative fiction 5000 words and under. Our remit is very broadly fun, but don't self-reject - a truly superb story offers an enjoyment of it's own.
Our story submission portal for writers of color is open. Please read the guidelines, as that makes things easier for everyone! Looking forward to seeing your stories. translunartravelerslounge.com/submissions/

'The Golden Blinds.' (1909) In James Hamilton Hay's pictures, he painted times of day with their own distinct and piquant illumination, and yet, like this work, no concentration of general light falls in any particular direction.

'Running the Bath.' (1895) Ramón Casas was a leading Spanish avant-garde painter. This picture, with its subtle graduations of colour and suffused light, is reminiscent of the introverted 'symphonies' of Whistler and the muted interiors of Vilhelm Hammershøi.

Described as an #1890s servant’s dress, I imagine this was Sunday best, an ensemble saved for days off, the few high days and holidays. These are rare survivals, far more unusual than the garments of the families they worked for #wienmuseum #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

For centuries, Betelgeuse, the iconic red supergiant in Orion, has fascinated astronomers with its changing brightness.

Why does its light vary over a ~6-year cycle?

Thanks to the Gemini North telescope, we now have an answer: Betelgeuse has a companion star!
