And another one gone! After a 6.5 year hiatus post-heart transplant and subsequent double amputation, I’ve made two tops start to finish (I.e., sent to my longarmer) in the past month. It feels great to be creating again and figuring out how to make it work as a #onearmedquilter #quilt #amputee

Literally this morning started planning a paper-pieced text quilt with “all things are possible…” based on this post.

I have no idea what Ari’s doing here — maybe lending a brain cell to an orange cat in need?

I’m back, baybee! This is the first quilt top I’ve made since I lost my right arm and leg. Start to finish I did everything except cutting the initial 5” squares. Bit by bit I’m learning ways to adapt the process and finding the right tools for me. #quilt #quilter #amputee #onearmedquilter

Here’s Artemis (Ari), a sweet cuddly angel with a spiritual conviction that she must sit on a laptop any chance she gets, and who will absolutely delete your draft, change your settings, and possibly reboot your computer if she gets a chance. Always turn on autosave if you know what’s good for you.

Aww, my ❤️ cat was also named Gonzo. I got her for my 17th birthday and nearly 3 decades later she’s still one of the best presents I’ve ever gotten. We called her the Lassie cat because she’d meow & lead us somewhere if something was wrong, like the time a possum got in our house. I still miss her.

I’m not sure a poem has ever spoken to me more than this one by Trista Mateer. “Times are tough / but I’m a fucking nightmare.”

Some days Artemis decides what I’m watching and how much of the screen I’m allowed to see. It’s still better than the time she hard rebooted my computer or the time she knocked it off the desk, breaking all major components. I can only imagine what she’d accomplish if she used her powers for good.
