What I remember of the 2008 crisis and Covid is how quickly things appear to take place in retrospect but they are not as you experience them. It’s why it’s so hard to call a crash or recession until things settle a bit.

Bitcoin has another $30k until people really freak out in my mind.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

The shutdown keeps dragging on, this line keeps going up, and prediction markets now suggest that it's more likely than not this will be the longest government shutdown in US history (previous record 35 days).

I remember canvassing in 2018, talking to a Republican who was undecided.

I said Rs had nearly kicked millions off their health insurance and would try again if they won.

“They said they weren’t actually cutting health care” he said to me, clearly in partial disbelief but wishing it were true.
"I voted for Trump. I didn't expect [him to cut health care.]"

A lot of folks in the economy feel like they just can't keep up. Goes way beyond partisan lines.

Prediction markets rate it close to a coin flip as to whether the Supreme Court will rule most of Trump's tariffs as (un)constitutional.

My $0.02: Don't take legal advice from an economist, but can't see a credible reading that says they're legal.

lmao @ both the ridiculous idea that $15T is being invested in the US because of the tariffs or that we’d become a “third world nation” without them

He campaigned on lowering costs. He governed by raising them—tariffs are taxes on consumers. And his pressure on the Fed risks unleashing even more inflation.
