Hi friends. I’ve got a quiet corner I’ll slowly fill with Vancouver Island beauty, creative work, home life, travel dispatches, and a bit of levity. ☺️

Yesterday we adopted this sweet senior pup from the city shelter. His first 10 years are a mystery. He spent time as a stray, until a kind person brought him for help. Shelter staff gave him medical & dental care, a warm bed, a bath, and a full belly. He’s a total love bug! We named him Lucky.🐞❤️

On the same day, after five months, the universe said no to this dog, and no to the poem…but it said yes to faith and trust, and yes to this November blackberry, ripe and sweet in its own perfect hour.

Spent time with my Mom on her 86th birthday. Cheered the World Series game with my brother. Felt grateful for autumn leaves, for life in this moment. Opened my grieving heart and offered to adopt a dog in need….waiting to hear if the Universe says yes.

“Making money is, on its own terms, totally meaningless, an insufficient pursuit for the complex and decaying world we live in…

“Scientists, naturalists, essayists, and poets are offering us a vision, a means with which to see and understand the splendor and sacredness of life.”

“The Heart of Ancient Earth”

I waited 10 years to take this self portrait - every time I visited this location there were tons of tourists (and I’m shy, haha). But last year, at 2am during midsummer, I finally found myself alone with these beautiful basalt columns. 🖤

I’ve been so quiet. Maybe it’s the tumultuous state of the world, or grief, that sends me to my inner world. Yesterday I returned to the sea, a place of solace. It offered me this midden, a glass bead, tumbled by its time spent in the tides. Tumbled like me.

It is 9 years later. I’m awake in the dark with jet lag. After being lost on trains, after losing my glasses on the plane. But in this moment, I’m reminded again of long ago lost words on a train…waking inside again, this mysterious universe. ✨

Thank you so much, Cami and team.🥹💖 #amagicaljournal
