There are some places that on approach, we just know to be ghost-soaked. There is a prickling of our psychic skin. An inner voice which repeats one word every louder: Haunted. Our bodies generate gooseflesh, instant headaches – physical warnings of phantom peril. – #CJosiffe #Ghosts

‘Natural soundscapes are beneficial to the human brain … they form part of our auditory heritage.’
The wonderful @radiolento has so many excellent ‘silent’ soundscapes www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle....
Quiet, please! The remarkable power of silence – for our bodies and our minds
Our increasingly noisy world has been linked to cardiovascular disease, anxiety and depression, as well as hearing loss. But that’s not the only reason we need more peace and quiet in our lives

I’ve forgotten to plant spring bulbs for the past two years. I’ve bought them … but neglected anything more.
Not last autumn! Very happy as there’s loads more around the place

Beautifully written #Hookland
The trees, disrobed to their wooden bones, reveal an occulted alphabet. A language of twists and turns, subtle with twig filigree, moss diacritics. The land speaks through its arboreal avatars and we witches would do well to learn it. – #EmilyCBanting, 1982 #WitchSky

A community of which l I’m delighted to be part. #Hookland
Hookland is a community. It manifests wherever it’s diaspora wants it to. However, in each of its different forms I hope there is a core of enchantment and kind connectivity to it.

Happy Krampusnacht!
It's Krampusnacht! Tonight is when Krampus was believed to visit children, leaving treats for good children, or kidnapping bad ones in his sack or beating them with a bundle of twigs. For some, St Nicholas left the treats, leaving Krampus to punish naughty children. www.icysedgwick.com/krampus/
Who Is Krampus And How Is He Linked To Christmas?
Krampus, sometimes seen as the Anti Santa, emerged into the mainstream in 2015 with his own movie. But who is he...and how is he linked with Christmas?

I love this! When I'm mentoring YA writers, I always ask what they think of Twilight, and if they're disparaging, I know they don't get YA *at all*. Twilight is beloved because it speaks directly to first teen love. It takes teen love as seriously as teens take it www.theguardian.com/science/2024...
The big idea: why we should take teenage love more seriously
Adolescent passions shape our future selves, and can be every bit as powerful – and perilous – as adult relationships

For most of history, the witch has been a creature of the bruised margins – dweller at village edge, the wrong side of the hedge. No true witch lacks empathy for all those others marginalised by society's insane need to other and divide. – #EmilyCBanting, 1982 #WitchSky
