I'm starting to wonder if they never re-open the government. Just start using direct bribes to keep the military running. Then there are all kinds of fake scandals that cancel future elections so we're just stuck with the crop of GOP congresspeople who never negotiate.
They're going to gin up some fake election scandal & use it as a pretext for a widespread crackdown in which they take greater control of elections.

Would it be possible to extend the government shutdown to some service that impacts rich people? It seems like air traffic controllers refusing private jets could up the urgency on this without causing poor people to not get benefits...
