The U.S. in Gaza narrative is essentially, reinforcement of what this country has always been. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Native Nations should really pay attention to that.

Why practices to connect us with our own humanity, each other, & perhaps something bigger, really matter now—

And can help keep us more whole, less responding on their terms & more on our own, more making choices as the people we wish to be.

I was actually saving these words for a future book, but I couldn’t hold on to them, not right now, not in the season of America we find ourselves in. Please go read the whole piece if you can, and ask how sacred spaces are created ♥️✨

This image is from my very first speaking event. I was there to tell a story, and little did I know it would open up the world—my world—to me.

Being an author and public speaker is not as idyllic as we act like it is.

Right now we don’t need you to try and be someone else. This moment in history needs people who are dedicated to being themselves prophetically, who use their gifts to make the world a more beautiful, tender place in the midst of chaos, oppression and hate.

Invest in your gifts.

We need you.

…this winter has really felt very cocoon-like for me, another sort of incubation period in which I’m doing a lot of necessary, difficult, beautiful healing.

I think sometimes we need the cocoon.

Hey solidarity, friends. Send funny memes. Watch puppy and kitten vids. Stay UP, whatever you do, however that looks. Our little ones & elders need us.

Sometimes people ask how old I am, assessing what it means that I’ve written 8 books (3 adult, 2 kids, 3 coming). It doesn’t always catch up to me until I remember again.

I’ve been writing since I was about 7yo, and I don’t really know anything else. Here’s a list of my books and why I love them.

I saw somewhere that Home Alone was voted favorite Christmas film and of course I thought of who I think of every year at this time, Bird Lady, my fav character in the second film.

Wrote this a few years ago, for all the other Bird Lady fans 🕊️♥️🌲

In difficult times, we ask what our role is. As a poet and storyteller, as a healer, I have to ask these same questions.

And the answer is in the medicine, in the words, the care, the embodiments of love. It’s in the way we show up to our souls and to the souls of others.

Lean in.
