WNYC creates community, has been a lifeline during emergencies and helped raise me. Radio Rookies helped teenagers report on their own lives. Public radio forever ❤️
Whats left of the "one-size-fits-all" age of media is melting away. The notion that our very complicated, very divided country can talk to itself through a shared public resource (as flawed and impossible as that goal always was) is near death.

For 528 days, Valerie the miniature dachshund survived in the Australian wilderness by eating roadkill and eluding the grasp of humans who wanted to rescue her. All the while, her owners worried about whether they would see her again.

More than 50 Venezuelans were believed to be scheduled to be flown out of the country, presumably to El Salvador, from an immigration detention center in Anson, Texas.

Hours ago, @politico.com revealed that DOGE is working with DHS on automating mass deportation efforts — likely explaining why many US citizens, green card holders, and even a Canadian (in Canada) got threatening emails last night terminating “your parole” and telling them to leave the US in 7 days.

These Reddit threads about this DHS email going out to citizens telling them they should self deport is very scary. Clearly went to them in error-still scary www.reddit.com/r/immigratio...

What’s today’s current tariff outlook? Not tiny
Suppose China's share of imports falls to 3 percent. Then the average of pre- and post- import shares would be 8 percent. So a crude estimate of the effective tariff increase would be .08*125+.92*10=19.2 percent. Close to but not quite Smoot-Hawley 3/
