There has been a lot of chatter today about Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump, some regarding this moment when White House correspondent Brian Glenn asked if the Ukrainian president plans to wear a suit. I want to address idea in this thread. 🧵

Cut ✂️ ✂️ ✂️ the rates
Australian inflation figure comes in at 2.4%. Goods inflation is now at its lowest level since 2016, raising hopes of an interest rate cut next month.

In Australia, more people work in arts and recreation (254,000) than the mining industry (220,000).

While there is plenty of money to subsidise fuel for mining companies, cultural institutions have suffered from funding scarcities for decades, writes @alicektg.bsky.social in the Canberra Times.
If multinational companies operating in Australia paid their fair share of tax, and if just a small portion of that money went to the arts, we could support great cultural institutions and fund our artists to create new work. www.canberratimes.com.au/story/886841...
The sad phenomenon of Australia's 'unfunded excellence'
It's inequitable to make artists pay tax while multinationals avoid it.

Nepal has been celebrated globally for tripling its tiger population in a decade - but its Prime Minister thinks the country may have been too successful.

Nepal's leader says it has too many tigers. Does it?
Wild tigers killed nearly 40 people in Nepal between 2019 and 2023. Solutions are hard to come by.

Just finished and loved "It Ends With Us". It's somewhat heavy in its subject matter but is written with hope and love for its characters. Writing is accessible and engaging. A booktok sensation, now a movie, this is a book that online reviews say has turned non-readers into readers.

(Spoiler alert: No. Never.)
