There is no need for legislators when the executive branch operates autocratically.
Q: "Trump said that his legislative agenda is essentially done. So why should voters vote for Republicans in the midterms if there's nothing left to do?"

Speaker Johnson: "He's referring to what we accomplished with the…Big Beautiful Bill…There is so much more to do."

Unfortunately, this will be interpreted as "Now we need even more military personnel on the streets such as active duty marines, etc".

They know taking away so much from the American People to line their own pockets will cause much hardship and unrest.  They won't even need to win elections anymore as long as the military cooperates.

They can still live with themselves because they do this everyday. It's the illusory truth effect.
JD Vance lies shamelessly: "We're inheriting a healthcare system that has suffered some real problems under the Biden administration. Because of that, you're seeing health insurance premiums skyrocket."

We are now quickly moving to the point where states will have to assume their rightly ability, in extremis, to judge the actual meaning of the constitution regardless of what Republicans on the Supreme Court claim.

The more the Trump Administration says this, the more the distrust expands.

Military families who will not get paid 10/15 because of the shutdown may be interested in this along with so many others.
We're spending $20B to bail out Argentina, but they cut USAID down to the bone, causing deaths around the world. The entire budget of USAID, the whole agency, was $21B last year. Shameful.
The Trump administration confirmed that the U.S. bailed out Argentina.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he had directly bought Argentine pesos in global currency markets in a bid to relieve pressure on the nation’s embattled President Javier Milei, a supporter of President Trump.

Frightening, but what is not anymore...
Thinking about how in 1979 Saddam Hussein held a party conference in which his opponents were dragged out and soon executed, and everyone who was left inside was like "Oh yeah, we're on the team, you bet"
⚠️ More power consolidation of the most dangerous type:

“Hegseth has ordered hundreds of the U.S. military’s generals and admirals to gather on short notice…next week, sowing confusion and alarm after the Trump administration’s firing of numerous senior leaders this year.”

This would be a high return thing to illuminate.
Democrats need to jump on the Argentina bailout – and tie it to cuts in health care for Americans. It's not "America First." It's "Suck Up to Trump First."
If you’re an incompetent foreign leader who sucks up to Trump, you can get $20 billion from U.S. taxpayers while Trump is cutting Americans’ health care.

The Trump administration is fine with hate speech. It's important to them as they can define it then use it as a pretext to "go after" their perceived enemies.
JON KARL: What do you make of Pam Bondi saying she's gonna go after hate speech? A lot of your allies say hate speech is free speech

TRUMP: We'll probably go after people like you because you treat me so unfairly. You have a lot of hate in your hate. Maybe they'll have to go after you.

Super interesting deep dive into US excess mortality. We're doing better than we were in 1980 but a *lot* worse than every other high-income country.

This is so incompetently ludicrous they're not even trying. Their intention of being in power was never to govern.
Brooke Rollins on farm laborers: "There will be no amnesty. The mass deportations continue, but in a strategic way. And we move the workforce toward automation and 100% American participation, which with 34 million able-bodied on Medicaid we should be able to do fairly quickly."

I actually have lost sleep over this. It's why I keep emergency supplies. The former Fed. Reserve employee I work with says we do not know the exact criteria that will cause a default.
If it does happen, there is agreement it will be a catastrophe as our entire economic system will collapse.
🚨 X DATE NEWS: Treasury tells Congress US will likely run out of borrowing authority in August and urges lawmakers to lift/extend debt ceiling by MID-JULY—before recess—to avert a catastrophic default.

Raises the stakes for reconciliation, where GOP leaders plan to tackle this.
