Pretty sure it's not up to women to "think carefully" about taking a higher-paid job than their partner. It's up to their partner to get the fuck over himself and be pleased for her.

In 1918, newspapers ran mask campaigns on their own initiative to combat the Spanish Flu. In 2020, if HHS didn't spend money to push the message on masks, the post-Watergate media couldn't be bothered. Media models matter.
A virus came along & killed 10s of millions of Americans & the social consensus is that we made too big a deal out of it.

Adjust your climate hopes accordingly.
I used to think that when global warming truly began to bite, deniers would face reality & we could act. Now I think it's more likely it will lead to a kind of fascism that will respond to global warming by, like, executing everyone who says global warming is real.

Academics struggle to see solutions because they share an identity with MSM journalists: neutral elites in charge of Truth. Before WW2 aligned media outlets organized publics in productive ways.

it says that everything liberals have said about republicans for my entire life was correct
It will never stop amazing me that the number of Trump-skeptical Republican/Conservative types who became PRO-Trump after January 6 is much, much larger than the number of pro-Trump R's who abandoned him after 1/6.

I feel like this says something important about human nature. But I'm not sure what.

Four years ago today, our country faced the largest threat to our democracy and peaceful transfer of power since the Civil War. This attack was premeditated and planned months in advance by violent militia members with close associations with then-President Donald Trump. (1/11)

People who called themselves “patriots” who “back the blue” stormed the building.

THIS is a damn patriot.

I will never get over this day.

Four years ago insurrectionists incited by Donald Trump attacked the seat of American democracy in an attempt to overturn an election.

Many seek to erase this event from history, but they will fail. We honor the officers who protected the Capitol, some of whom are no longer with us.

Some of y'all need to download some mental health apps and chill because you're seriously not emotionally or mentally equipped to deal with the next 4 years.

journalists love telling us how objective they are so when they say something that’s obviously an opinion it means that everyone they personally know agrees with it

Behold the bulwark of democracy. It is imperative that we consume their content over the next four years, or so I’m told.
Margaret Brennan appears to suggest that Jan 6 insurrectionists should get pardoned by Trump because they're "white collar workers, small business owners" who "didn't necessarily have a criminal record."

Not that it matters, bc we're not having serious discussions 👆, but the price of bread went down ~10 cents this year & is now ~back to what it cost 2 years ago. Grocery prices were flat in 2024.

At some point, "there was inflation in the past" needs to stop being the central story of the present.

Honestly I think you can make a pretty strong case that one of the biggest factors driving Trump’s victory was Musk buying Twitter, and it’s telling that no political commentator wants to concede it has any role or effect at all

Seems bad that we have elected a man backed by people who see his election as the culmination of a murderous revenge fantasy they have against their supposed enemies. Maybe the media could have done a story or two about this.

IMHO one of the biggest problems we have in this country is, we absolve voters of their responsibility. You'll meet the nicest people with the most bonkers political views because it's become accepted to hold those views without challenge because "it's just politics"

Remember the concept of “fuck you” money? Meaning if you have enough you don’t have to worry about pleasing anyone?

Today, the wealthiest people in the world still feel the need to prostrate themselves to Trump

Because, for them, no amount of money is enough

No Republican coup plotters and funders have gone down, even after the 1/6 Committee yielded crime after crime they committed. Shot in the ear? You know that's bullshit.
How are taxpayers okay with being shit on, judicially?
It's gone too far.
