A few years ago Fallon promoted his monkey NFTs on the tonight show and not long after that trash plummeted hard. Last night Sam Altman was on the show saying you can’t raise babies without ChatGPT so let’s hope we’re on the same trajectory

One of my faves from them and a reminder of how common it was for music videos to be both unique and endearing
"Electrolite" was released as the third single from New Adventures In Hi-Fi in the US on this day in 1996.

Been sleeping very poorly due to terrible prolonged jet lag and had freaky wide awake nightmares last night after watching Bugonia and the first episode of Pluribus over the span of 24 hours. Enjoyed both but they really messed with my 4AM brain

This is my brain on bread:

Eating toast for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch: I think that’s too much bread in one day man
Eating a sandwich for lunch and a burger for supper: hell yeah

Eating untoasted bread before 12PM: why isn’t this toasted?
Eating untoasted bread after 12pm: hell yeah

Great pickups in Tokyo - don’t even own a Dreamcast but couldn’t resist. D2 looks rad as hell and was crazy cheap, and a big shout out to one of the best shops here Rare Item Studio, got Shenmue 1 and 2 in perfect condition for less than $30 CAD combined, wtf

Used to feel like I had a superpower for detecting AI content but all it takes is just a few minutes on Instagram reels now to see the machines are fucking winning this battle

“Anyone can make a movie for 8 million dollars and a crew of a hundred people. Try making Carnival of Souls.” - Candace Hilligoss

Peak organ-swelling macabre memento mori. Elevated horror. A woman makes a darkly fantastic journey through the land of men. Plunged into waters. Emerged from waters.
1 horror movie every day of October:

6-CARNIVAL OF SOULS, Herk Harvey (1962)

We are celebrating films that are turning 40 years old on my website this month. This one is on DAY OF THE DEAD.

"Romero’s apocalypse is not romantic. It is nihilistic, and thrashing about at the short-comings of intelligence, and decency of the human race."

Really liking how Alien Earth is doing their own version of a “previously on” recap - inserting quick shots of scenes from the last episode into the actual intro of the episode itself. The logo of the show slowly revealing in the classic Alien fashion overtop really adds to it

Legendary actor. The Limey is an all timer for me - he’s also so good in The Hit, super underrated 80’s road movie
Terence Stamp (1938 - 2025) 🤍

I used to clean this house and it always felt haunted. All your typical signs were present and a clowder of cats lived there. They would gather in this one place and watch me walk between buildings. Today I saw this photo of a ghostly figure by the back window, watching from the same place.

The hype was correct, Weapons absolutely ripped
Seeing Weapons tonight and am excited, but trying to keep my hype in check. Barbarian had the same level of excited chatter online before it came out and I ended up enjoying it just fine, but all the lead up hype made it feel that much more of a minor let down

I think I’m going to write this game into fruition, make a fake walkthrough/strategy guide for it. The idea hasn’t left my brain
Playing through Shenmue for the first time (bonafide masterpiece) and realizing my dream game is this but make it a supernatural horror mystery. A day/night cycle investigative adventure that is essentially a playable Kiyoshi Kurosawa movie

Hearing the entirety of the Oxford Theatre (RIP) collectively react to the various graphic scenes near the end of Antichrist, a symphony of “aaaugh!!” all at once
Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema?

During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.
Someone in my audience had a very audible negative reaction to the dog scene in TOGETHER. So that was fun!
