People who want to get morally superior about how they hand-wash everything really gotta reckon with the fact that machine dish-washing uses considerably LESS water and emits considerably fewer greenhouse emissions than standard handwashing practices do.

@donmoyn.bsky.social I feel like the media is failing because just yesterday yesterday Russia wrecked Ukraine an know there talking a peace deal is weird and makes no sense, trump really doesn't want to help ukraine, he is weak an more democrats need to says this before more Ukraine gets destroyed
The guy systematically engaged in an unprovoked and systematic destruction of Ukraine's infrastructure actually wants to protect and maintain it.
Trump: "Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed. It sounds a little strange but President Putin was very generous in his feeling toward Ukraine succeeding, including supplying energy, electricity and other things at very low prices."

New, from me: The NYT reporter who specializes in profiles of beleaguered right-wingers on campus went to New College...and found out that things were going ok!

So let me explain some pretty massive errors of omission: 🧵

NYT just ran a bizarrely credulous piece about New College, the school that DeSantis and Rufo have turned upside down.

There is one good outcome of the article: This @donmoyn.bsky.social post, which is one of the best pieces of media criticism I've read all year.

"And I never say no"

We need to have a serious talk about the way "AI companion" apps not only prey on the vulnerable, but are priming their users to ignore consent and to conflate love with control.

We need AI regulations across so many sectors, but this area is particularly horrifying.

These technologies can and are being used to create lifelike images and videos of actual living women and girls. For what I think are pretty obvious gendered civil rights reasons, it needs to be a recognized civil cause of action to create an AI image or avatar of a woman without her consent.

Cancellations, shortages, fear, hardship—we’re already feeling the effects of the Trump regime’s nativist, anti-immigrant policies, and they’re just getting started.

What can a similar crackdown in the 1920s tell us about what the future might hold?

The RSF militia, backed by the United Arab Emirates, has slaughtered countless civilians in Sudan.

The US keeps selling arms to the UAE despite their support for these crimes. And Trump only cares about cutting deals with the Emiratis.

Enough. No more weapons for war crimes.

I love the east Bay Area. People of different races and religions live and work together to build the American Dream. We in liberal society take this for granted but the national rise of extremism stemming from online content seeks to take this away from us.

Might be controversial in saying this but i think we need a balance on this issue, attract talent while trying to build local talent but this issue is in everything from sports, to academics to business.
I see this on the right - the idea that the existence of foreign academic staff and faculty are evidence of discrimination against natives. It's not discrimination, its selection: academia is a global marketplace, the US is the biggest center of that market. So yes, some foreign talent will win.
Striking nativist editorializing by the federal judge who just upheld the $100,000 tax on high-skill immigrants.

She opines that it’s “troubling” that universities hire talent from abroad at all, instead of only native grads.

Then admits (!) that opinion is irrelevant (So why write it? Venting?)
