I don't have time to watch & debunk the whole thing, but even in the first few minutes there are fallacies, e.g. "The rule is the most compact way to represent the data, so therefore the NN must learn that." That simply doesn't follow.

OpenAI is signaling an "attempt to dominate the market, not through superior technology, but by limiting competition through exclusivity deals, government contracts, and licensing requirements for advanced AI models."

The analogy Taylor Lorenz draws to the Visa network is fascinating.

Weirdly amusing to watch the RW rapidly flip back and forth from the base racism of "Asian barbarians poxxed the world with their unsanitary dietary practices" and the galaxy brained racism of "Shifty Orientals executed a decades long plan to do mind control via bioweapons"...Yet both are also true?

Hot take: scientists and engineers also have a moral obligation towards awareness of the social-political ramifications of their work.
We scientists always have a choice about whether we do the work of killers or not

And even in scenarios where we did not realize that was what we were doing, once we know, it is our moral obligation to stop, immediately

This is the line also used by AI vendors in journalism grifting on the idea that those poor Black and brown communities that never get coverage will “benefit” from their crappy AI.

I’ve been in a one-on-one meeting with a founder. Yes, this is what he thought.
“Engineers who designed virtual nurses or AI therapists often told me their technology was ‘better than nothing,’ particularly useful for low-income people who can’t catch the attention of busy nurses in community clinics, for example, or who can’t afford therapy.”
