President Trump has tried threats, name-calling and public humiliation to take control of the Fed. But he has always stopped short of the step that advisers warned could roil financial markets and upend a pillar of the global economy: attempting to fire a Fed official. He took that leap on Monday.
Trump’s Attempt to Fire the Fed’s Lisa Cook Risks Global Economic Stability
President Trump’s attempt to fire Lisa Cook, a Fed governor, will set off a long legal battle. Economists warn it could lead to higher inflation and government borrowing costs.

Attempting to rig elections on his behalf.

Turning the military on citizens.

Toying with the idea of declaring martial law.

Attacking political enemies and punishing those who speak out against his regime.

If this were happening in another country, what would you call it?

Yet another hospital bombed in Gaza. This kind of thing happens everyday there. Of course Netanyahu is bullshitting about an “investigation” — why in the world should anyone trust him?

This is happening with US money and US bombs. We must end all funding of this genocide.

Robert Rivas and Shannon Douglass say “what our immigration enforcement agencies are doing now, in many instances — treating hard-working, law-abiding immigrant workers as if they are violent criminals — is a mistake.”
Opinion | California Farms Feed America. They Can’t Do It Without Immigrants.
We need a bipartisan solution that ensures a stable farm work force and protects farmworker families and the future of American agriculture.

The battle of our day is no longer about Democrats versus Republicans or left versus right.

The choice right now is democracy or dictatorship. And we're sliding faster than I ever thought possible into the latter.

Everyone must choose which side they’re on.

It’s easy to get discouraged but there is still reason to be joyful. Take this incredible example of grand juries refusing to indict a woman for confronting an agency involved in ICE enforcement.

It’s nearly unheard of for grand juries not to indict. Three refusals is a sign of things to come. ✊

It's a Catch-22 at immigration courts across the country. “If they don’t show up, they’ll be deported. If they do show up, ICE is going to take them away,” says @deanobeidallah.bsky.social‬.

Brad Lander: ‘Keep bearing witness, keep putting our bodies on the line’ to fight ICE arrests
The Department of Homeland Security has carried out a wave of courthouse arrests in recent months – targeting migrants attending legally mandated hearings, a key step in the process of becoming documented U.S. citizens. “They are abiding by the law, and it’s our government that’s breaking it,” said New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, who has been accompanying immigrants to court. Dean Obeidallah echoed that concern. “If they don’t show up, they’ll get an order of deportation,” he said. “If they do show up, ICE is going to take them away.”

It isn’t normal for a president to repeatedly threaten the use of military force against American citizens. Treating the National Guard as a political pawn disrespects those who serve and undermines public trust in our military.

If a president wanted to become effectively a dictator, he’d likely:

1. Purge govt of non loyalists
2. Weaponize law against opponents
3. Use military to police opposition strongholds
4. Threaten media, schools, businesses w penalties to get them to heel
5. Change election rules in his favor.

If there were ever a time to call your members of Congress and tell them to vote NO on a bill, now would be the time.

202-224-3121
The tax breaks in the GOP's "big beautiful bill" would disproportionately help the wealthy — with the richest 1% reaping 25% of the benefits.

Meanwhile, it would kick nearly 9 million people off Medicaid over the decade and slash food assistance programs.

Reverse Robin Hood.
