I was at an elementary school today. There were artworks on the wall, probably 2nd or 3rd graders'. Across the top of each page was: If I were president... All the kids wrote about how they would help people-the homeless, the hungry, etc. It was heartwarming to see that even these Littles get it

I sent an email asking a serious and specific question. I was treated to a vague and irrelevant answer obviously written using GenAI. If someone can't bother to write their own email, then they should just not answer at all. If I wanted ChatGPT's answer, I wouldn't have emailed you.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

Me being a broken record on this: Don't trust consumer-facing "AI" for anything.
A federal judge in Wyoming received a motion citing nine cases. Of the nine, eight don't exist.

When she demanded an explanation, the lawyers said their "artificial intelligence platform ‘hallucinated’ the cases in question."

Lawyers Caught Citing AI-Hallucinated Cases Say It’s a ‘Cautionary Tale’ For All Law Firms
The attorneys filed court documents referencing eight non-existent cases, then admitted it was a "hallucination" by an AI tool.

The greatest business battle EVER to be fought will come when President Elon starts trying to implement AI for federal processes.

The battle will be fought over which company’s AI will be used by the feds.

This is a zero sum battle that will create more chaos than this country has ever seen

I read something today that was labeled as written by AI. It was much less terrible than I've seen before. But here's the thing: with it being labeled as AI, it didn't bother me as much. Discovering after I read, OTOH, feels like betrayal. Use AI? Then label it as such.

Thank goodness for the American Medical Association. Here is their YouTube page. Please share far and wide. Right now bird flu is spreading throughout our country and most people have no clue. Please stay updated and bookmark this page for your health and well-being.

I find a lot to agree with here on Bluesky, but very little to say. It's a little intimidating. Most of you are so smart, and I'm just an ordinary person living a quiet life. But keep it up, guys. I'm with you!

I keep warning you that generative "AI" is a threat to the processes of making & certifying knowledge & consensus reality, thus leading us to the verge of an epistemic & heuristic collapse of just catastrophic proportions but y'all keep slathering it on yourselves like it's butter & you're corncobs

The people telling us how good generative AI is for us are either people financially invested in generative AI or people interested in not paying writers, editors, artists, communications staff, designers, etc. Maybe we could go ahead and not listen to them.

Information - accurate info- is necessary for most things. But, to me, human connections are more important. I'm not going into most friendly convos looking for info I can find online. I'd just like to have a convo where I can wonder, speculate, imagine, without being told to Google it.
