She/her. Trans lesbian. Card carrying member of Generation X. Way off to the left politically. Possibly a goddess of some sort.

On good days, I run on kindness and love. On bad days, I run on spite and Diet Mountain Dew.

As you can imagine, it's been a pretty rough week for me. I've got a community that's going to love each other and stick together and figure out a way to get through this.

Love is important. But sometimes, you need a good dose of spite to stay motivated. This sign sums up how I feel right now.
Maybe I'll post something else this afternoon. But for the morning, this is sadly still very appropriate.
Time for your Monday motivation.

In 2025 (less than 30 days away), PayPal will start selling your transaction history for targeted advertising.

I very highly recommend logging into your account and going to Settings > Data & Privacy > Personalized Shopping.

If you're reading this, turn that off RIGHT NOW before you forget.

One day I'll post something here besides this sign. Today is not that day.
Time for your Monday motivation.

Oh, I definitely need some Monday motivation, so in case you need it, too, here you go.

What gif pops up when you type your name?

(I'd love to know the story behind this gif.)

Today is the day that I finally listen to some Ramones songs not named Blitzkrieg Bop or I Wanna Be Sedated.

On my way to play board games with friends.

Say how old you are without saying how old you are:

The first computer we had in my house growing up was a TI-99/4A. A few years later, I saved up enough money to buy a Commodore 64.
Say how old you are without saying how old you are:

The first album I ever owned was Styx's KILROY WAS HERE, on cassette.

The first album I bought with my own money was Heart's BD ANIMALS, also on cassette.

The first CD I bought was the newly-released Jane's Addiction album RITUAL DE LO HABITUAL.
Say how old you are without saying how old you are: my mom was a technophile and we had a computer when I was a kid. She loved video games so she’d pop in a cassette and set it to load, make dinner, then 45 minutes to an hour later dinner would be ready and the game would be loaded so we could play.

What an achievement vaccines are. What a monument to our love for each other it is to stare straight into the face of something as horrific and unstoppable as smallpox or measles or polio or cervical cancer and say “You know what, it doesn’t have to be like this.”

HUMANS!

It's transgender awareness week, which means you should be aware of me!

I'm Ela. I'm a writer, erstwhile comedian, artist, occasional designer, wannabe voice actor, and all-round ferret-coded.

Below will be some links to various things. Books, mostly.

I could really, really use the signal boost

since Pamela Paul has apparently penned another NYTimes anti-trans op-ed, you should know she's a serial transphobe, so much so that FAIR did a whole article about it: fair.org/home/pamela-...
here's a fact-check of her July op-ed on gender-affirming care: www.erininthemorning.com/p/fact-check...
Pamela Paul’s Gender Agenda
By giving Paul a platform, the New York Times is feeding a grievance-based ideology that directly harms trans and other marginalized people.

Post a picture of yourself to show the newbies what they're dealing with.

This is from almost a year ago when my hair was longer, but a cardigan over a Captain America t-shirt? Definitely a nerdy aunt.

I had a brief moment of panic because I thought they ran out of Diet Mountain Dew, but it turns out they just moved it. Whew. (And I'm gonna need that caffeine to get through this damn company town hall.)

The trans agenda, in 3 bullets:

• The minimal respect of using my name, epithet and pronouns if I'm your employee, boss, coworker or customer.
• My medical business, like yours, is between me & my doctor
• Freedom to go about my business in public without abuse or restriction due to me being trans.

I try to remember that whenever we talk about how much of a fucked up horror show the world is, what we mean is that the world is full of good people being wronged and beauty being destroyed, that we risk losing all of it—not a denial of the good in the world but its affirmation.

If I'm being completely honest, the main reason I first started paying attention to Julia Serrano is because she's a fellow trans woman named Julia. But she is absolutely essential reading.

This week on Stained Glass Woman, it's time to get ready for what's coming after the most recent American election and what protections we have in place right now that'll help us fight.

Shoulder to the boulder, folks. Time to get to work.

It's the start of a new week (OK, I have the day off because it's a bank holiday), so I figured I should post this sign again.

We need love, but sometimes, we need spite, too.
