Rest in Power, Alice Wong 🙏🏿✨
‘Death remains my intimate shadow partner. It has been with me since birth, always hovering close by. I understand one day we will finally waltz together into the ether. I hope when that time comes, I die with the satisfaction of a life well-lived, unapologetic, joyful, & full of love.’

Three Things I Don't Like:

1. Using systemic analysis to escape taking personal accountability.

2. Using personal accountability-speak to be dismissive or cold towards the impact of systemic oppression.

There are internal & external factors involved in most things.

Both/and not either/or.

It's important to name and understand the role capitalism plays in structurally producing poverty — but its also important not to overextend that analysis into pretending people's individual agency is meaningless or powerless to uplift ones circumstances.

Doing so is extremely disempowering.

The crises of the 21st century are not limited to the economic or the institutional; they are profoundly psychosocial. Conspiracy thinking, loneliness, identity fragmentation, anxiety disorders, and the erosion of interpersonal trust all point to deeper developmental ruptures.

The possibility that a trans child's gender might be affirmed by a kind, supportive adult is so abhorrent to the right they'd genuinely rather let children in crisis die to suicide than speak with a crisis line operator in a time of need.
Yes, there's no right to treatment without a parent or guardian's consent, and medical rights are often retained by birth parents even for children in foster care.

In some states this has been taken to an even greater extreme, with teens unable to get mental health support w/o parental consent.
Idaho law requires teens to seek parental consent for suicide hotline
Idaho 988 Director Lee Flinn said in most cases, the minor hangs up because “they feel like they can’t do that.”

Here's a pet peeve about how ppl talk about Audre Lorde. I can't count how many times people write "as Audre Lorde reminds us..." and then drop a nugget of Lorde wisdom.

And I'm like, Audre Lorde didn't REMIND us. We didn't KNOW that yet. She came up with that shit, so let's give some credit!
feeds are all 'a chef taught me this'

'a flight attendant taught me this'

'my Japanese friend taught me this'

'a freshwater salmon taught me this'

'this information was revealed in a dream'

'all wisdom is merely recalled, never learnt'

“Klein’s interest here isn’t honesty but flattery. It shows Klein isn’t writing about Kirk at all. He’s writing about himself and saying, ‘I’m doing politics the right way because I’m lauding someone who disagrees with me.’”
I told myself I wouldn't do a snap reaction to Ezra Klein's noxious editorial. I said, "If you're still mad about it on Monday, then you can write about it."

I'm still mad about it!

For the record.

My posts were not even about Kirk directly, but about America's apathy towards political violence, and the coddling of white male shooters and hate peddlers.

I was fired because I mentioned race: white men and violence-- that was my "gross misconduct."
