Cotton candy is such a fun treat, and I love learning the science behind it. Amazing how something made from just sugar and air became so iconic. Great reminder that sweets can fit into a balanced diet when enjoyed in moderation! #beh353

I looked into the keto diet and didn’t realize how strict it is. It can cause quick weight loss but also side effects like headaches and nutrient gaps. My question: why do fad diets stay popular if they’re hard to maintain? #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is so helpful! I think a lot of people assume serving size is what they should eat instead of what people typically eat. Understanding that makes the whole label way easier to read. Thanks for breaking it down in a realistic way! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I plan to use nutrition in my dental hygiene career by teaching patients how sugary drinks, snacks, and acids affect their teeth. Small changes in diet can prevent decay, and I want to help patients make realistic choices that support better oral health. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

It’s amazing how maize started as a wild grass called teosinte and was transformed by ancient farmers into the staple crop we know today. Its domestication shows how innovation shaped food and supported entire societies. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Before I trust a nutrition post, I check if it has real sources, like a dietitian or a reliable website. If there’s no evidence and it sounds too good to be true, I don’t believe it. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Going to bed before 10 PM can improve sleep quality, boost energy, support hormone balance, lift your mood, strengthen your immune system, reduce late-night snacking, lower inflammation, help manage weight, and reduce risk of chronic disease. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social Great post!

Teaching kids to eat well early sets them up for lifelong health. Simple habits like colorful plates, balanced meals, and fun snack make nutrition easy and enjoyable. Evidence-based tips help parents guide children without stress or strict rules. (Link in the reply) #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

It’s crazy how much our bodies hold onto stress without us even noticing. This chart really shows how emotional and physical health are connected. A good reminder to slow down and take care of ourselves. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Tom’s story showed me how hard weight loss can really be and that it’s not just about willpower. His honesty about feeling stuck really stood out to me. It made me realize that everyone needs support, patience, and a plan that truly fits their life when trying to change. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

That’s so true. People forget everyone’s situation is different. Precut veggies can actually make healthy eating easier and more accessible. It’s not about being lazy, it’s about making nutrition realistic for real life. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
"Precut veggies are a lifesaver for someone limited in fine motor skills. It's also a lifesaver for people short on time and want to feed themselves. So no, it's not for "lazy" people and unnecessary."
- What I wanted to say to the man in the supermarket snickering at them. 😑

I learned obesity is influenced by more than willpower access to food, stress and environment matter too. Moving forward, I’ll be more supportive and never shame anyone. I’ll focus on encouraging healthier habits, not judging. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Love this reminder. Food isn’t just fuel it’s joy, culture, and connection. I’m learning to see meals as moments to care for myself, not things to “earn.” No guilt, no punishment, just appreciation for what nourishes body and soul.
Food = fuel AND joy (+ culture, experience, love, etc.). You’re allowed to eat without guilt. No burpees required.

I really relate to the barrier of “healthy food costing more.” At my campus cafe, a salad is $10 while a burger and fries are $6. It’s tough to choose the healthier option when money’s tight. #HealthyEating #StudentLife #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is such a good reminder! Non-GMO labels can be misleading, and it really pays to know which foods are actually GMO. Smart shopping saves money and helps make healthier choices! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I’m vitamin D deficient, so this study caught my eye: 2,000 IU daily may slow biological aging by preserving telomeres! Not a magic pill, but another reason to check your levels and consider supplementation for overall health. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Such an important reminder! Food labels can be so confusing just because something says “natural” or “organic” doesn’t always mean it’s the healthiest choice. Thanks for breaking down what these terms really mean and helping people make smarter choices! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I just read a great Mayo Clinic article on healthy cooking iit shows how simple swaps like baking instead of frying and using herbs instead of salt can make a big difference. It’s easy to follow, evidence-based, and helps people make realistic, lasting nutrition changes. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I wanted to share this because it’s such an important point. Body types aren’t trends, and treating them like fashion ignores real people’s health and worth. We can’t expect every body to look the same respecting diversity matters more than following harmful beauty standards.
I’ve seen a lot of commentary about “super skinny coming back into fashion”.

It’s 2025 - can we please accept that bodies aren’t infinitely changeable, we can’t reconstruct them on a trend… it’s not fashion or a trend; it’s just bias.

Instead of soda with lunch, I’ve been choosing sparkling water with lemon. Same refreshing feel, but way less added sugar + more nutrient-dense. Small swaps add up! Choosing drinks wisely supports energy, hydration, and overall health. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

That’s really interesting! It shows how powerful a small change like choosing water can be for overall health and even long-term outcomes like weight loss and diabetes remission.

My 24-hour food recall was mostly accurate, but I forgot small things like condiments. It wasn’t too hard, just tricky remembering details. I was surprised by how often I snacked when I saw it all written down, and it made me think more about my eating habits overall. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This week we learned about macro and micro nutrients and how each serves unique and essential roles in our health. One fun fact I learned is that fat is not just energy it also helps absorb vitamins, protects our organs, and keeps our body temperature regulated. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I chose this post because it reminds me that not all sugars are the same. It connects to class lessons about reading labels/ understanding nutrition claims before believing headlines. It also made me think about how easy it is to overlook added sugars in everyday foods. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
