I’m absolutely gutted to learn that Kipekee has died. She was the all brown giraffe born at Brights Zoo in 2023. I’m thankful I got to see her in October of that year. Rest in Peace you beautiful creature.

Yeah, I’m that dork that goes to the library to sit and read. There are fewer distractions than trying to read at home.

Art. I of the Constitution gives Congress the power to make rules and regulations for the armed forces — including codes of discipline and strictures against following illegal orders. You can’t punish members of Congress for articulating those rules. Also protected by Speech and Debate Clause.

Nuremberg Principle IV

The fact that a person acted pursuant to order of his Government or of a superior does not relieve him from responsibility under international law, provided a moral choice was in fact possible to him.

As a survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre, Viola Ford Fletcher bravely shared her story so that we’d never forget this painful part of our history. Michelle and I are grateful for her lifelong work to advance civil rights, and send our love to her family.

I fell asleep far too early last night to watch #TheGreatEscaper on @pbs.org so I’m watching it now online.

It’s not illegal to remind troops of their legal rights and obligations. Following unlawful orders can land troops in jail. “I was just following orders” is not any sort of legal defense.

I finally had a chance to start watching Ken Burns’ The American Revolution. I’m just a bit into Ep2. As always, he and his team hit one out of the ballpark. This should be mandatory watching for American History classes at all levels from middle school and up.

Last Sunday I got to see Baltimore’s own Dead Eyes. It was their album release show and they killed it! Check out Black Hole Heart on all the streaming services.

I’m finally listening to Northlane’s new album Node: Reloaded
They’re going on tour next year with Dayseeker. See them if you get the chance. Seeing Northlane is a religious experience for me. One of my absolute faves. Bummed I can’t attend any shows next year.

Just went walking around in an early dead mall. As I sit here getting ready to leave, I see a woman with 6 shopping bags from the 1 remaining department store. All I left with was a full bladder because I couldn’t find a restroom.
