Tonight, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band opened their Land of Hope & Dreams Tour. Bruce launched this run of shows with three statements about the situation in the United States, with comments preceding his songs Land of Hope and Dreams, House of a Thousand Guitars and My City of Ruins.

At max, you can expect to infect 5-7 people with COVID. That’s considered pretty transmissible, which is why we (tried to) lock down about it.

An infected person will give measles to 16-18 other people. It’s extremely virulent

It’s long past time for you to wear a mask again.
A thing I wish more people knew is that measles is basically the most contagious disease in the world

The attacks on vulnerable people are coming hard and fast. Now is the time to mask up again for like 17 different reasons. 🧵

1. Not getting COVID is the only way to prevent long COVID. Federal $ fuels most basic research in the US & it's being shut down, meaning the hope of a cure is receding
Listen, if you're feeling the urge to build community & look for ways to resist fascism, I need you to start masking in public again. You can't build solidarity with at-risk communities while being actively ableist, and not masking in public is ableist. Sorry to be blunt, but I'm existentially tired

1/ The greatest triumph of public health is also, paradoxically, its greatest challenge: When it works perfectly, it becomes invisible. We no longer see children in iron lungs, paralyzed by polio. We don't lose our siblings to diphtheria or watch our children struggle to breathe thru whooping cough

Pasteurization kills harmful bacteria while keeping the good stuff (calcium, protein, vitamin D) intact.

Before becoming standard practice, illness (and even death) associated with consumption of raw milk was widespread - especially for kids.

Science is awesome!🥛

It’s crazy-making that Joe Scarborough said of Bezos: “Anticipatory kowtowing to a guy saying he is going to be an autocrat is the first step”

Then took the step himself 🙃

You don’t bury an ethics report that would exonerate Trump’s pick.

You don’t skip FBI background checks unless his nominees have something to hide.

See what they’re doing? Please tell me you see what they’re doing.

This #VeteransDay hits different, knowing we’re about to lose our disability benefits and pensions. Knowing we’re about to lose VA hospitals and clinics. Knowing he will gut the federal workforce which is 1/3 Veterans. He hates Veterans & we’re about to learn how much.
