it was a pleasure to write this spotlight article. Many questions remain about sensing of missegregated DNA by NoCut, but the @longchrom.bsky.social lab makes exciting progress. They put the helicases Srs2/PARI in the picture, suggesting new mechanisms for genome protection.
Spotlight: @juanmartin-serrano.bsky.social highlights work from Dam, Moreno, Brownlow, @longchrom.bsky.social et al. (rupress.org/jcb/article/...), which reveals how Srs2/PARI act as a missegregated chromatin sensor for NoCut, delaying cytokinetic abscission. rupress.org/jcb/article/...

these are really sad news. Antonio Garcia Bellido was a scientific giant, he paved the way to world class science in Spain. His pioneering work in Developmental Biology was truly revolutionary

that trust won't go well in the White House. Why having the BBC if you can spread fake BS?
It’s apologising season. The audience for BBC output in the US is just over 40 million, not 77 million as I said. That’s the figure for the Americas as a whole. But the BBC is indeed the second most trusted news source in the US.

New Home Office figures show a rise of 50% in citizenship applications from Americans – putting it at the highest since records began. In my view, you can’t have too many open-minded Americans in your country — they’re the best of the best.

it is the destruction of US science in front of our eyes, as promised. It will take decades to rebuild, if you ever have another presidential election
This is really bad, really just f*cking awful

America will pay the price for Donald Trump’s tariffs. Growth was underwhelming and inflation disappointingly high in the first half of the year. But the full toll of his foolish policy will be felt over the long term econ.st/4mLeTnP
