Halloween 2008 was a Friday and I found out the grant I was working under had been pulled. I had just turned down an unsolicited offer to re-join some friends at a company, but wouldn't be able to confirm the offer still stood until Monday at the earliest.
The longest I've ever been out of work is 2 months in the summer of 2020 (a great time!). But losing my job, being forced to move and sell my house at a loss in 2008 has knock-on financial effects to this day, and has given me legit shaking/crying PTSD when my boss asks to meet last-minute.
I had a job all throughout the Great Financial Crisis, that doesn't mean that being constantly worried about losing my job didn't fuck me up big time.

I'm in the White Sox/Cubs market (blacked out of my Cardinals). I watched so many shitty Sox games a couple years ago because Benetti is one of the absolute best.

When anything Windows came up, it used to be a point of pride that I hadn't used it personally or professionally since 2002 and had no idea how to do X in it (where X is usually fixing an issue).
