The phrase “we were just following orders” has been used all too often to justify breaches of basic human rights.

This 83-year-old priest has just been arrested for holding a sign which read:

“I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.”

According to Starmer’s new law, this puts her in the same category as an ISIS or Al-Qaeda terrorist, with a prison sentence of up to 14 years.

Today marks 47 years since the end of the 1977 pay strike. After years of falling real wages, some firefighters had resorted to claiming benefits to survive.

98% of FBU members organised in solidarity and went on strike for nine weeks. Eventually, firefighters settled with a 10% pay increase.
