Why do LLMs statistically churn out the word "tapestry" so often? I never saw the word "tapestry" in student writing before LLMs. Now, everywhere!!

Today Trump signed an order to dismantle the Dept. of Education. This guts the Department’s ability to support public schools, strips resources from students, and leaves states to fend for themselves. We are joining forces with like minded organizations to take action. 3 steps you can take below:

Could we call it the difference between narrow self-interest (which she voted for, as a promise of free IVF) and a commitment to the broader good (which she voted against, and turns out it included her govt. job)? Should we know that the narrower good may be too narrow for ourselves & what we love?
People are having predictable reactions to this piece, which I get, but I actually do think we need to have a collective discussion about epistemic ethics, as it were. She didn't know. *Should* she have known? Who is responsible for her not knowing? Did she fail or was she failed, or both?
She hoped Trump’s victory would change her life, but not like this

Migrants' families fear tattoos made them a target for detention at Guantanamo
What role are migrants' tattoos playing in the Trump administration's efforts to identify, arrest and put on display criminal immigrants?

A strong call for higher education institutions to do everything they can to defend themselves against people who have pledged to destroy them.
1/ I wrote for the Chronicle of Higher Education about how federal higher education policy is now subject to insane vendettas from the worst people you can imagine.

US higher education had become a world-class sector, one of the greatest strengths of this country, even with the amount of work still to be done in making it more just and equitable. But a cabal of mediocre whites, out of pure spite and belligerent stupidity, have decided to choke it to death.

I'm done with the way this is being represented. The professor created the materials. It's all hers. It's being compiled into a course text by an A.I. platform. I've used Pressbooks and Google sites to do something similar. This is not a course taught by A.I.

Students should study the humanities not because it makes them better workers but because it rips you open and breaks your brain and changes everything you thought you knew. I *promise* you this. I *promise* it has this ability, no matter how smart you think you are. I have seen it countless times.
Hearing the president of KU say that the way the humanities can protect itself - a question asked by a humanities professor of Spanish - is that her field should direct its public voice to how the Spanish language can impact AI versus the third study of an obscure play…. Just sigh.
