I need everyone to understand the following:

This is tragic.

This is inhumane.

This is human bondage.

This is not new.

This has been happening for a very long time.
The state of Georgia is keeping a deceased Black woman’s corpse hooked up to machines against her family’s wishes because she was 9 weeks pregnant and they cannot let them shut off the machines b/c it violates their anti-abortion laws

“ITS TORTURE,” says her family

Family says woman declared brain dead but her pregnancy continues under state law
Adriana Smith's been on life support 90+ days with weeks to go in her pregnancy. Her family questions Georgia’s heartbeat law — and why they had no say in her care.

many of us have been trying to warn the world about the intersection of autistiphobia, ableism, and fascism for years now.

only to be laughed at, including by many in the autistic community.

we've been called fear mongers, opportunists, partisans.

our lives are at stake ffs

I won’t share RFK Jr.’s lies about autism.

It’s disgusting and dangerous.

If he had a shred of decency, he would apologize and resign.

Autistic people contribute every day to our nation’s greatness.

To every kid with autism, I’m in this fight all the way for you.

After finishing #AppleCiderVinegar, I rewatched Unbelievable. Both based on true events in which Kaitlin Dever plays a young woman ho had a rough childhood. In one, she tells the truth about something bad that happened to her, and is not believed. In the other, she lies, and is believed. #Netflix

Convo with my friend from Hungary tonight who left after Orban’s election.

She said “your head will spin with all the wild stuff they try to pull, new things every day, but don’t take your eyes off the money. It’s all about the money, and what they’re stealing, and for whom.”

Yep. If you dig into the article you’ll see the invocation of Zimbabwe as an excuse to misinterpret the recent expropriation law (which will probably hit Black residents worst)

Yes. This is why state capture is a useful concept to understand what's going on. Here's a definition. See the section on South Africa in particular.

Has anyone done a corpus linguistics study on Trump's phraseology? There is something very sly in the way he uses "actully" and "perhaps" in the same phase: "they're taking away land and confiscating land, and actually they're doing things that are perhaps far worse than that." #corpuslinguistics
US President Donald Trump on Sunday asserted South Africa was "confiscating" land and "treating certain classes of people very badly" as he announced he was cutting off all future funding to the country pending an investigation.

Kelly Bishop, aka "The Third Gilmore Girl" was a pioneer of the idea that having the confidence of a mediocre white man is how one makes one's dreams come true. Her matter-of-fact attitude and dry wit makes for brilliant and rejuvenating reading/listening. #memoir #audiobook #booksky

"Extremely hardcore" by @zoeschiffer.bsky.social (about the Twitter takeover) is one of my favourite recent reads. It has helped me feel less... disoriented by what is happening in the US at the moment. And less likely to expect anything but chaos.

Can confirm. Adding the F word to your google searches turns off AI summaries. E.g.:

"how do massively parallel reporter assays work?"
vs
"how do f*cking massively parallel reporter assays work?"

RFK Jr is saying that "autism is destroying our kids." Autism didn't destroy me, but ableism almost did, and eugenics/the mainstreaming of disinformation certainly threaten to.

Even if you think your uninformed views on the internet are just for "fun", if you are discussing medical information you are potentially spreading misinformation. This has the potential to harm people, even if you can't see how.

1. Pick an issue you find really important (abortion? climate? immigrant defense?)
2. research what organizations in your area are focused on it
3. figure out how to volunteer
4. if no orgs exist in your area, consider making a local chapter with friends
Ha! Yes, both, I guess. But I really am feeling at a loss on what a resister girl ought to be doing on the daily. I’m tired of talking. I need some action. Any underground groups anyone knows of? I guess that makes it above ground??
