I have so many colleagues who work at NSF or NSF-funded agencies and organizations, I can't even fathom what they are all going through right now. And we will ALL be worse off for this. This isn't about improving efficiency at the margins, this is a wholesale attack on science of all kinds.

It is a remarkable (if not new) feat of propaganda that these world-shaking tariffs are supposedly about fentanyl, while virtually nothing is done that would actually address the drug epidemic, whether in urban centers or poor, rural communities.

Deportation is now to be called permanent displacement.
Breaking news: President Donald Trump proposes permanent displacement of Gazans as he welcomes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House, saying “they’d love” an option to resettle.

TRUMP: I envision world people living there. The world's people. I think you'll make that into an international, unbelievable place.

Fascists need made-up enemies to distract you from what they, and their super-rich funders/bosses, are taking from you. They want you constantly mad, scared and distracted. And they love picking enemies that could help teach you to reason and see through through fascist lies.

For those who say “all politicians are the same,” it seems to me that in a week America has gone from “we’re angry our leaders aren’t going far or fast enough,” to “our leaders are quickly unravelling any progress we’ve made in half a century and rapidly launching fascism.”

Doesn’t seem “the same.”

Trump’s supporters in the US honestly believe that the rest of the world “fears” Trump and admires him for being so brilliant and such a strong leader. Been telling them for years the rest of the world laughs at him and they refuse to believe it. It’s sad.

Important to see this type of info and statement come out of higher ed programs related to construction science, land development, planning, engineering, etc. I will be asking my College (which includes all of the above except engineering) what we will be communicating. Immigrants accounted for 34% of workers in the construction trades last year and the jobs with the highest shares of immigrants are:

While most public transport agencies think their job starts and ends at the turnstile, Dutch railways operate as a door-to-door mobility provider.

By investing in cycle parking and sharing, their ridership and revenue levels have steadily increased, creating a virtuous circle of sustainable travel.

I've gone from "Wikipedia is not a real source, students" to "I will defend Wikipedia with my life" in a short span of time. I don't know what we should do, I'll be looking to others for guidance on that, but I do know we have to defend every remotely democratic or open source tool we have now.
