It is crazy to me that a con man grifter with an IQ of about 80 currently has half the country kneeling at his feet, lying for him, pandering to him, sucking up to him.

This is not a “crackdown.” It is invasion. Military is not requested and not wanted, to the point of lawsuits, and Trump is doing it anyway. That is invasion. Meanwhile, citizens beg for government help from FEMA and get nothing.
