One of my hottest takes is that I am personally exhausted by Christian nature spirituality. It’s not wrong; I have no valid objections to any of; we’ve all read Annie Dillard and Mary Oliver; I like Mary Oliver.

But the radical under-development of urban spirituality deeply frustrates me.

Pro-Trump media went wild for a bombshell exposé claiming the Jan. 6th pipe bomber was a Capitol Police officer with CIA ties.

But now the story looks shaky, tweets are getting deleted, and the story's backers are running for cover. My @thebulwark.com newsletter: www.thebulwark.com/p/the-blaze-...

BREAKING update to my lawsuit against DC Metropolitan PD for body cam footage from USIP raid —

We've submitted our response, including sworn declarations from *six* USIP workers, 1 of whom says he "observed members of MPD giving each other high-fives and fist bumps" after removing staff from bldg.

I’ll probably regret posting this later, but I think there’s an important and under-appreciated difference between being neutral and being — or at least claiming to be — objective.

I continue to insist — not unlike Sisyphus — that such distinctions really do matter.

Don’t use “ICE” reflexively. Look at clothing, badges, patches, unit insignia, etc.
Couple things:

(1) Photo's from the Chicago Tribune, which identifies the officer only as a "federal agent": www.chicagotribune.com/2025/11/10/t...

(2) Based on fatigues, could be from ICE or CBP tactical teams. (See here: assets.bwbx.io/images/users... and here: images.foxtv.com/static.fox5d...)
a new genre of photo in the last year is federal agents working for ICE pointing guns directly at photographers

Update: In 3 recent editorials, WaPo failed to disclose owner Jeff Bezos's interest in the matter under discussion.

WaPo added one disclosure after @bgrueskin.bsky.social called it out.

Two weeks after my story, the other two editorials still have none. And the paper still won't say why

A week before my office closed due to Covid, I saw a coworker emerge from a stall in the men’s room, look in the mirror, rub a finger over his teeth then walk out.

It was then I realized the worse-case scenarios going around at the time were optimistic.

Note these weren't wiretaps — they were call records (though such metadata can still be quite revealing).

Spending Bill Would Pave Way for Senators to Sue Over Phone Searches
Republicans have voiced outrage that Jack Smith looked at G.O.P. lawmakers’ phone records surrounding the Jan. 6 attack. Legislation to reopen the government would allow them to sue for $500,000 each.
