Liverpool, politics, theatre, wine, cricket, travel, Eurovison, family, republican (in the UK sense not US) - and more. Wry observations. General disdainment.
Here endeth an hour of brilliant music.

Has there ever been a better musical year than 1981? I think not.

And then one of the greatest pieces of pop music ever...

Saw The Human League live this summer. They were absolutely superb.

It's her party and she'll cry if she wants to. Will you find her in the kitchen then? And perhaps not for the first time: surely it's party fears two...

Sorry!

Liverpool was such a great city musically when I was growing up. Music, football and our history - all we could hold on to be proud of, in dark times for the city. #totp

Former Finnish PM Sanna Marin put it bluntly: “To end the conflict, Russia must leave Ukrainian territory.”

Just one point. Nothing more to discuss.

According to the Guardian, we shouldn't be laying the table for dinner. We should be tablescaping.

I'm guessing the author lives in a leafy north London suburb.

This, from the Guardian, is Ryanair at its very worst.

It's not good enough for them to insist that they're a low-cost airline and everyone knows the rules, in circumstances like this...

I wonder if legislation is needed?

Is it morally acceptable to eat a slice of Aldi Christmas cake in November?

(But oh my goodness it's excellent... If you'd told me it was from say Fortnum's or Harrods, I'd have believed you.)

All of the offers are on laundry baskets.

I despair.

Much as I hate Remain - and the Russian regime - is 10.5 years not excessive for taking a £30k bribe? Locking someone up for any time is a real punishment: are we any better served if he got 10.5 years rather than (say) 2? It's no wonder prisons are overcrowded when we imprison people for too long.

Looking forward with interest to whatever Starmer has to say about the Ukrainian "peace" deal, now the USA has clearly showed itself to be in league with our enemy, Russia.

The "peace plan" for Ukraine equals surrender to Russian aggression. That's not peace: that's capitulation. And it gives Putin carte blanche to attack wherever he feels fit in the future. Where's next: Estonia?

Trump: the new Chamberlain.

Traitors and cowards don't win Nobel Peace Prizes.

Now Nathan Gill has been jailed for 10.5 years for accepting Russian money, can the police do a very thorough forensic analysis of the source of all funding that's flowed in recent years to Farage, his wife, Reform / UKIP and the Brexit Leave campaign?

Flyer sent from theatre in Milton Keynes advertising their panto.

Photos of 12 cast members / dancers. Eleven men (one in panto drag) and one woman.

Don't think we'll take our six-year-old daughter, then.

Seriously, in 2025?

So, @eddavey.libdems.org.uk , is that actually what the report says? Because most of the coverage is saying the exact opposite: that lockdown should have come earlier, and 23,000 lives would have been saved if it had.
The news that a national lockdown could have been avoided is shattering. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who lost loved ones during the pandemic.

Kemi Badenoch should apologise on behalf of the Conservative Party. This tragedy must never be repeated.
