STV is a great voting system since you can vote first for your preferred candidate without risking letting a candidate you don’t like in - you end up with a consensus candidate. It’s only one study, but it implies that more progressive voters understand this system best.
CHART: How Mamdani, Cuomo & Lander voters filled out their ballots

Mamdani’s most common ballot partner was Lander, Lander’s was (to a lesser extent) Mamdani, Cuomo’s was himself/blank

Finally one that actually works (looking at you, Dyson in D).
Them: "How the heck are you going to make a meme relating Independence Day to music from the Anglican choral tradition?!"

Just found out that, before the Civil War, it was more common to refer to the U.S. as a plural, "The United States are..." but gradually, after the Civil War, we switched to referring to the U.S. in the singular, which is kinda grammatically incorrect, but better reflects the political reality.

You fuckers are sleeping on Jupiter’s moons. I don’t want to ever hear one more person whine about Pluto if they can’t tell me a single fact about the in-every-way-superior Ganymede.

Is that *two* types of bacon?
I don’t know how many Americans would come to England if they realised an Act of Parliament has decreed they need to consume this every morning during their stay.

Under Meta’s new content moderation policy, certain online attacks are banned *unless* the target is LGBTQ, in which case the attacks are allowed.

Yes you read that right: There’s a queer exception to Meta’s restrictions on attacks on people, specifically: 🧵

For Maths fans, 2025 is a square.
45² = 45 x 45 = 2025
Also,
9² x 5² = 2025
40² + 20² + 5² = 2025
My favourite?
1³+2³+3³+4³+5³+6³+7³+8³+9³ = 2025

I love Ian Hislop but it’s worth noting that most of us would balk at the prospect of publicly admonishing a wrongdoer whose conduct you condemn in this way. I did it once to the UKIP/Reform/Brexit twerp Richard Tice but that took exactly zero guts.
This is speaking truth to actual power…
