A bit about me - I worked in journalism for 25 years before earning two history degrees from the University of Waterloo. Still trying to make a go of it as a writer. I've published one book and will soon publish my second. I sing and I play guitar, bass, and keys. Oh, and I'm a dual citizen. 🇨🇦 🇺🇸
"Tom and Daisy . . . smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made."

Not having read it sure hasn't kept the Mar-a-Lago crowd from embodying it.
So trumps probably never read the great Gatsby, but is it possible that no one at mar-a-lago has read the great Gatsby?

Meanwhile, the USA's self-appointed role in this world is not only meddling and influencing but also dominating everyone else's domestic and foreign policies. (Hence, Trump's tariff "strategy.")

Wonderful, generous, kind people will only let you push them so far. And I mean that. 🇨🇦

A classic comeback win to end a classic series that saw the Blue Jays go down 0-2 at home but rebound to win 4 of 5. We'll remember this for a long, long time. American League champs and World Series-bound!!! #OKBlueJays

Trump "fell short" of winning the Nobel Peace Prize in the same way that I fell short of being the No. 1 pick in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft.

Once again, the Trump regime has exacted vindictive revenge for a perceived slight against his childish sense of entitlement.

If mental health professionals ever get together and decide they need a poster boy for emotional dysregulation, they need look no further than Orange Cruelius.
BREAKING: sources say NARA has forced out Dr. Todd Arrington, the federal director of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum, after he declined to allow the Trump administration to remove a sword from the library for a gift to King Charles

"Canada called me a couple weeks ago." 🙄

🐂💩
🍊🤡
Trump to generals: "Canada called me a couple weeks ago. They want to be a part of it. To which I said, 'Well, why don't you just join our country. Become the 51st state. And you get it for free!' So I don't know if that made a big impact but it does make a lot of sense."

Spent the last decade reading conservative blogs use the word "Orwellian" more than they used the word "the" and now they're literally just saying "War is Peace" out loud in front of everybody.
Hegseth: "As history teaches us, the only people who actually deserve peace and those who are willing to wage war to defend it. That's why pacifism is so naive and dangerous."

"The Blue Jays are not a first-place team, I’m sorry." - Yankees mouthpiece Michael Kay, July 2, 2025.

Ninety-four wins, including eight in 13 games against the Yankees, say otherwise, Mikey. Enjoy the Wild Card Series! 🖕😁

Even if there were a link between Tylenol and autism, it would pale in comparison to the link between Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein.
The new Tylenol ad just dropped. Sound up!

In which Trump claims he will extort ABC, which, like most everything else he does, is yet another felony.
NEWS: Trump seems to be implying he is going to sue ABC for bringing back Jimmy Kimmel. This is why you never bend the knee to a bully.

In the late 1960s, President Lyndon Johnson was annoyed by comedians like the Smothers Brothers who often mocked and made fun of him.

But, rather than insulting or threatening them, Johnson demonstrated true leadership by praising and thanking them instead. He wrote to them, in part:

Jimmy Kimmel and other late-night comedians have certainly said things about me that I found offensive, even outrageous.

It never crossed my mind to call up the networks and say, "Hey, get rid of this guy."

Because that's not how America works.

It's both sad and scary that people who make comments on social media about a particular person are more at risk of experiencing negative consequences than they would be if they were in the Epstein Files.
Thou shalt not call yourself a “free speech warrior” and then spend all your time getting people fired for using free speech.

Two doddering old kings: Charles the Third, and Donald the Turd. 👑 💩

They actually have something very significant in common. Both are who and where they are today due entirely to circumstances of birth and not because of any special abilities they may have, such as philandering.

One particular assassin whom I won't bother to identify by name wanted to become famous by killing a celebrity and chose John Lennon because he figured Lennon would be the easiest one to get to.
I just saw a TikTok like “the motivations of assassins don’t make sense anymore” but boy have they never.

Hinkley shot Reagan to impress Jodi Foster. Oswald was such a complete mess people just assume the CIA did it. Guiteau killed Garfield because no one would make him an ambassador.
