A Toronto councillor unwittingly reinforces a truism about Canadian urban planning: choice about where to live - whether quiet or not - is for people who can afford detached/low density homes. To protect this, everyone else - especially renters - needs to have their choices constrained.
"We are talking about the quality of life of people in quiet residential neighbourhoods, who chose to live in these neighbourhoods because they are quiet. They did not choose to live in them because of commercial activity," explains Holyday.
