fondly recalling how after Jan 6 Congress went home for a long weekend, didn't start impeachment proceedings for a week, which then took another month
It took only ~2.5 hrs for the National Assembly to gather a majority of members (190 of 300) and generate a unanimous vote (190 of 190) to vote down the emergency martial law. The law says the president "shall comply" with parliament's vote, but doesn't specify a time frame.

It has become abundantly clear that the U.S. Supreme Court is dedicated to maintaining a strict conservative status quo — even if that means executing innocent lives.

Makes me sad re-reading this amazing letter from ex-Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox sent to high school seniors in 1994 after they asked him “What should Americans learn from Watergate?” 20 years later in ‘94.

His answer is remarkable—unfortunately things didn’t work out so well in 2024.

Last week, the House passed a bill that would give Trump unchecked power to go after his political opponents.

Now we need Senate Democrats to fight back and defeat this nonprofit killer bill. Tell your senators to vote NO on H.R. 9495 (and oppose any bill that it’s attached to as an amendment). 👇

It definitely feels like MAGA is the greatest threat to our democracy, but it’s becoming clearer to me that they are simply a proxy, however willing, for Russia. We need to address both of them.
