I’m no expert, but at the least I see it as helping slow things down. Even with a complicit judiciary having to navigate the courts takes time. Of less significance IMO is that it may help some who are supporting through ignorance start to question and potentially turn against them (keyword “may”).

It’s baffling. They must be really embarrassed. I feel so sorry for them.

On the one hand yes, we should do everything we can to obstruct. On the other hand, people are going to be persecuted no matter what and leaders are both the best equipped to fight and their persecution brings the most visibility to the wrongs that are coming.
