NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

Unpopular opinion: Politics happens more than in Nov. every two or four years. Elections matter a lot, but they are not all that matter, and things that happen in between often don’t end up reshaping elections, but still matter.

That’s even more true with fascists trying to control civil society.

Bad misread to describe the anger at Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats as exclusively “progressive.” I can attest to multiple moderate/centrist types who are livid—because they value rights, law, and democracy, unlike the Appeasement Eight in the Senate—and I’m reasonably confident it’s widespread.

As the US skips the UN climate conference, slashes science, and steers into pollution, China is going hard with solar, and selling tons to the many countries that prefer to live in reality rather than deny it.

Yet more indication America threw away global leadership and facilitated China’s rise.

A little bit of history worth knowing. If it’s history, they are trying to wipe it out, to make room for the absurd tales of eternal innocence that bring fascism and bloodshed closer.

SNAP benefits weren’t stopped by the shutdown, they were stopped by Trump’s lawbreaking.

Under US law there is a dedicated SNAP fund for shutdowns, Trump refused to spend it, lost in court, defied the court order, took the issue to the Supreme Court.

And guess what? He’s still pursuing that case.

At least some state leaders and activist groups are.

Can everyone stop pretending that the new CBS is in the news business, and admit that it’s a post-truth propagandistic organization, now that they openly admit it?
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.

“If we fight united”

That’s it, Senator, no one believes you will. Not Trump and the GOP, who will go even harder now that they’ve seen what makes the Democratic caucus crack and fold. Not the base, which feels betrayed after helping the party to an electoral win.

Any plans to change anything?

Well sure, when you prematurely fold rather than see a fight through, you fail. And why should Trump opponents vote for anyone who thinks standing up to Trump isn’t worth doing?

This was a Senate leadership deal with a structured roll call. The real question is if Sen. Duckworth still supports Senate leadership after they made that deal. If she does, then her statement means little. I've asked her staff
Trump and Republicans refuse to fight for American families, but I refuse to give up on them.

I simply cannot vote to do nothing to help protect them from Trump’s vindictive efforts in exchange for a vague promise from the least trustworthy Republican party in our nation’s history.
