This is one of my biggest gripes with AI generated code. People don't understand what they're committing and that's so dangerous. #ffconf with @jesslynnrose.bsky.social & @edaeren.bsky.social

Please do not use "AI-slop" to illustrate your articles or presentations.
If you need images and have none just use one of the free stock image sites. It's not harder and doesn't make you look like a dumbass.

Toasts are those small popups that appear just long enough for you to read the first words, to realize maybe you should read all of it, but, well, too late. And you can never trigger them again, ever, nor is there any record for you that they were ever shown.

Down with toasts. Burn burn burn.

Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.

Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.

Your daily remember that there is no such thing as designing for just mobile, tablet and desktop.

The ideal viewport doesn’t exist
Before you settle on basing design decisions on a handful of strict breakpoints, make sure you consider the vast fragmentation of screen sizes and browser viewports.

for some reason i find local LLMs kind of charming in a way the mass consumer stuff is not. you built a mini-cluster out of raspberry pis that takes 37 minutes to generate a 3 second clip of video that sucks? i don't see the point but that's classic computer dork shit, have fun pal

RSS, the cornerstone of any nutritious URL discovery.
Something I observed while manually reviewing every single site on personalsit.es:

Websites built with Next.js very rarely have RSS feeds.

Websites built with React sometimes have RSS feeds.

Completely static sites almost always have RSS feeds.

SEO Salt, when a client asks you to just add some SEO.
Saw this out the corner of my eye and just for a moment, thought it said SEO salt. In other news, learnt a little bit about typeface anatomy as a result.

As I regularly note, "AI" at this point is an umbrella marketing term for a bunch or generative/machine learning/other formerly differently-termed processes that (of course) have no actual intelligence behind them. It means nothing useful for how the underlying computing proceeds. Thus the quotes.
I love how you used quotation marks around "AI." If you've been doing that all along, I'm kicking myself for not noticing. It's a misleading or just lying marketing term and we shouldn't accept and repeat it without pushback. Generative LLMs are not AI.

Its for exactly this reason that I always recommend devs setup staging on a subdomain rather than leaving it on your managed hosts default url - If you ever have issues with the robots/index directives on your staging env - you'll see it in GSC.
Bonus: if you use something like "content.your-site.com", you can just verify the main domain with DNS in Search Console, and get all data for your website + the content hosted there in a single property in Search Console. (6/7)
