Covid STILL sucks. And part of the reason for that is because the reactionary response WON. Constant reinfections are creating chronic health problems, and govts are saying "There are too many sick people -- there's no reason for such an upsurge, They have to be faking. It's Over Because We Say So!"
I don’t blame people for this feeling! Covid really did suck and being forced to constantly encounter and negotiate our collective interconnectedness was exhausting and at times enraging. The backlash made a lot of sense. But it absolutely created a reactionary cultural and political environment.
