Wild how Shadowrun today feels like an optimistic alternate future. Native Americans gain independence from the U.S. government? A benevolent dragon becomes the president and governs by suicide? People still communicate primarily through message boards? Sign me the fuck up.

This hits hard…

“Then she was fired by a Fox News weekend host.”

You know what else hits hard? The fact that voters thought it was a good idea to hire a reality show host/bankrupt businessman as President of the United States.

a key take away from reading a lot of history for me:

the people who survive hard times and eventually brutally humiliate their seemingly invincible enemies are not the people whose first response to adversity is “oh well, guess I’ll die”

I'm on Amtrak heading from MD -> NY. Dude behind me is complaining that he posted a pic on IG that had over 1K views but no likes or comments.
He just keeps saying "So you mean to tell me a thousand people saw my sh*t but nobody interacted with it? That's just hate."

after days of grifters and con men at CES we stumbled upon the booth for VLC. they were all dressed as wizards and told us, "we have nothing to sell, we just decided to show up". i told them I'd been using their software to pirate media for 15 years and they said "keep doing that"

> In this study, we defined code errors as any code that reduces the ability for the code to be easily understood. This did not include functional errors that would prevent the code from operating as intended, but instead errors that represent poor coding practices.

Meta is doing what it often does when it's threatened ... It clones the best features of the upstart to blunt its rise & then waits for the would-be competitor to run out of VC money.
Social media is in desperate need of innovation. Meta is only letting you have a slice of control over what you see because Bluesky is here building for you.
We wrote on Saturday about how Meta is going all-out to meet the threat of Bluesky: wapo.st/3OrYxBj

Today they took another step— finally allowing users to set their default feeds to a chronological “following” feed.

I have nothing against private schools. I have nothing against religious schools. I have nothing against homeschooling.

I have everything against public schools being defunded in order to pay for them.

Today, November 25th 2024 is the day we officially learned that justice in America, in fact, does NOT matter. #sad
The moral of the story, kids: It’s fine to try to stop the peaceful transfer of power and incite a mob to storm the Capitol and do all you can to overturn an election as long as you run again and win 🇺🇸

The right does indeed have a big Bluesky problem.

X gave the right an opportunity to 'own the libs' and persuade the persuadables to join their side.

Bluesky could deprive them of both.

TODAY’S EPISODE OF: WE FU*CKING WARNED YOU

Guy’s dazed & confused when he realizes China doesn’t pay the tariffs—he does.

Like Trump’s tax cut for big corporations. Why would they use that extra money to hire more people when current employees are already doing the work? They just pocket the cash.

The thought of Xitter being a "Marketplace of Ideas" is asinine.

There's no real debate on there anymore. Their system is set up to support arguing in bad faith. You can't have a healthy marketplace of ideas if it's set up to just beat down ideas that don't conform.

Thinking about the Andrew Tate situation a bit:

I was wondering why these 🤡s keep leaving their spaces for ours and It's because their identity is doing stupid/horrible shit to shock us and without us they'd just eat each other or fizzle out.

I just saw that Andrew Tate tried to join bsky and got banned in under 24 hours.

This is all I ever really wanted in a social media platform 🥰
