I started being regularly published when I was 25. I didn't make my first dollar writing until I was 30. I didn't sell my first novel or screenplay until I was 35. Many of you hadn't even heard of anything I'd written until I was over 40.

You have time. There is no expiration date on writers.

And so another day on Bluesky draws to an end and here at the ILT we make our nightly reflection upon it:

"Was I sleeping, while the others suffered? Am I sleeping now? Tomorrow, when I wake, or think I do, what shall I say of today?"

Jon Kenny.....suaimhneas síoraí dá anam. May he rest in peace. RIP.
Very sad to hear of the death of Jon Kenny today. One half of D’Unbelievables, who were a comedy phenomena in Ireland in the 1990s, Jon (along with Pat Shortt) created brilliant, mad worlds, dragging the audience, roaring with laughter, with them. An inspiration. RIP.

I retired in 2018 after 44 years public service ..... and a book I co-wrote with my good friend Dr. Aodh Quinlivan from University College Cork, about Cork city's longest serving Lord Mayor, was published last year in 2023. Believe me....you are never too old.

"First Citizen" was launched around this time last year by Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Kieran McCarthy. Co-written with my good friend Dr. Aodh Quinlivan of University College Cork, it tells the story of Cork city's longest-serving Lord Mayor. An incredibly fulfilling experience. New book has begun.
