I picked this up because I vaguely remember reading a couple of the Necroscope novels as a teenager. The kindest thing one can say is that it romps along. Lumley is jolly keen on exclamation marks. On the plus side, I have learned that Cthulhu has a daughter called Cthylla.

Austin Osman Spare. I'm fascinated by what that book is doing in the middle of the picture. It's not like Spare was one to shy away from depicting genitalia.

This is a fun read: it gives the lie to the myth that We Were All in This Together during WW2. If you had the right contacts, not only could you eat & drink well, you could also fly off on a 'diplomatic mission' to meet your boyfriend for a Middle East shagathon & spot of antique buying.
