when I worked at AWS, it just absolutely baffled me that nearly all customers just shoved their compute into us-east-1: Netflix was the worst offender - at the time, much of their CDN seeding originated from us-east-1.

This morning my ChatGPT quota was inexplicably exhausted.
It took a while but I pieced it together. Voice mode somehow got activated when I went to bed.
The bot then engaged in a 10 hour conversation with my snoring dog, answering questions the pup wasn’t asking and praising him for his insight.

I really believe generative AI is a cognitohazard to an entire column of humanity. I don't know, there's a something it fucking does to people that displaces their own entirely-capable cognition and independence, further they seemingly cannot perceive the deficits of. This is not a moral argument.

Software engineering, as a practice, often is really not about the code at all. Process, organizations, teams, distributed work, etc. etc.
