What an outburst of joy, of pride.
Ireland are into the play offs for World Cup Qualification.
Our football team has always had a deep connection to communities all over this island and beyond. Tonight is no different. Young men pulling on the green jersey #COYBIG 1/ 🧵 #Speirgorm

I could always misquote the great Con Houlihan by saying ‘I didn’t miss the World Cup as I was in Ireland’ 🇮🇪
Should Ireland eventually qualify for the World Cup 2026 I could realise my long held dream of going and supporting them.
However, I won’t travel to the Kip that’s now the USA so the dream will have to wait.

I would love Ireland to qualify for the World Cup for all the usual reasons. But it would also be fantastic to have the whole country festooned in tricolours that haven't been put up by the "Ireland is Full" lot.

The absolute best thing about this is that it gives younger Ireland fans their own legitimate magic moments. We need to stop going on about Euro 88 and Italia 90. Outside of Robbie Brady in Lille there’ve been very few in the last 20 years.

There’s been some amount of bullshit uttered on radio, guests and presenters, by non-football supporters following last nights over Portugal.

The Bandwagon is being assembled for Sunday am Hungary.

Then, possibly ‘I wouldn’t open the curtains to watch that shite’ brigade come to the fore

Another one

‘orange rain warning me hole, it’s only damp squid…’

These always give me a chuckle,

Only 3 hrs into the timeline at their location with 17 hours of alert still to come

Sorry Mrs but football is tribal.

It should be a cauldron to intimidate the opposition.
Uncomfortable atmosphere because Portugal and Ronaldo weren’t give cups of tea and cake

Ronaldo, Ronaldo. Ronaldo
Eh, #liveline mothers brought kids to Lansdowne to see the cheating clown instead of supporting their country

Portugal manager Martinez didn’t see any elbow

‘It’s the full body, from where the camera is it looks like an elbow’

Looks like an elbow, moved like an elbow, it’s an elbow
