#OTD Mary I of England & Philip II of Spain were married at Winchester Cathedral. Subsequent interpretations of Mary’s reign regard the marriage as a mistake but the situation at the time was more complex than later historians, overwhelmingly Protestant and anti-Spanish, reflected. bit.ly/1YcxmbC
